Child Protection and Safeguarding

It is the responsibility of all school stakeholders to do everything in their power to protect children from any form of abuse, be it physical, emotional or sexual abuse, neglect, or child sexual exploitation. We are duty bound to deal with any concern which arises directly from a disclosure by a child. This may involve contact with Education Authority Child Protection and Safeguarding Team, Social Services Gateway Team or the PSNI.

If you have a concern at any stage about your child's safety at school, you may speak to our Designated Teacher for Child Protection and Safeguarding, Mrs McKernan, OR the Deputy Designated Teacher for Child Protection and Safeguarding, Mrs Gillespie.

Our Designated Governor for Child Protection and Safeguarding is Mrs C Collis.

At any time, you may talk to a Social Worker at the Social Services Gateway Team on 0300 1234 333 or the Regional Emergency Social Work Service on 02895049999. The emergency service is available 5pm - 9am Monday to Thursday and 5pm - 9am Friday to Monday. This service provides 24 hour cover, 365 days a year.

All our staff receive Child Protection and Safeguarding Training. This training is refreshed each August during training days and every member of staff must attend before working with the children within our care.

We have a Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy & an Anti-Bullying Policy. These and other related policies can be viewed in the policy section of this website and are available on request from the school directly. Policies are reviewed in line with statutory guidelines.
